Serving Our Neighbors
Save the dates of July 26-29! For three days this summer, FUMC will be Serving Our Neighbors (SON) through home repair projects, yard work, relationship building, meals together, and special children’s activities at the church concurrent with Vacation Bible School. This short-term, local mission project will culminate in a celebratory worship service and meal on Sunday, July 29th.
We will be sharing three full days of God’s love, interacting with the neighborhood, building relationships with each other, and with those who live among us. This will be no small feat, and one in which the whole congregation will be invited into ministry. Mark your calendars and prayerfully consider taking a couple vacation days from work so you can plan to be a part of it! Our goal is to have whole families engaged in ministry through a variety of areas:
- Site Selection
- Home Repair
- Food Preparation
- Children’s Activities including Vacation Bible School and Childcare
Have you identified which gift you can use during this summer’s all-church Serving Our Neighbors (SON) event running from July 26-29? Sign-ups are ongoing. Paper forms are available at the Information Center and online forms are on our website, https://www.fumcholland.org. For questions, please email the planning team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
One way to be involved right away is with this year’s Vacation Bible School, called Shipwrecked! Castaway your cares and get involved in this wonderful three-day ministry for children in our church and community. VBS is scheduled July 26-28 (same time as SON) so mark your calendars. Right now we are looking for volunteers who will help construct the sets and decorations for VBS and our float in the Kinderparade. To get involved contact the planning team at email@example.com or sign up on the Connection Card.
