  • refresh is open Tuesdays and fridays 8-11am, and wednesdays 6-8pm for showers and sack meals

    Welcome and host people who are experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity as they receive the gift of a hot shower, a meal and connection to services in our church building. The program runs on Tuesday and Friday mornings and Wednesday evenings throughout the year. For more information about this program, proudly co-sponsored with Community Action House, contact Rev.     Please drop off items for donation on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8-11am or Wednesdays from 6-8pm at Entrance A.  For questions or to volunteer, please contact Rev. LuAnne.

    Current Needs Are:    (starred items are most urgent)

                                                   

    *Personal-size packages of skincare wipes, such as flushable or baby wipes

    *Travel-size deodorant

    *Men's deodorant, full-size

    Shaving cream

    Men's jeans, 30. 32  or 34 waist, 32 and 34 length

    Long-sleeve T-shirts, esp L and XL

    *Men's boxer-style underwear (M-L)

    *Men's shoes and boots, size 11 and up

    Bike lights

    *Squeeze bottles of jelly


    We do NOT currently need coats, bar soap, socks or toothbrushes. Items that are used but in good condition are gratefully accepted. Thank you!


  • COMMUNITY KITCHEN

    Members of First serve at the free Community Kitchen meal that meets at Western Seminary. In December, we celebrate with the Community Kitchen patrons at a holiday event just for them.  For more information serving at the Community Kitchen, contact Allison at Community Action House.   • Mobility worldwide west michigan

    Retired, but not tired? Join other retirees in West Michigan in building carts for people in developing countries who do not have the use of their legs. For more information about Mobility Worldwide West Michigan, check out their website. To volunteer, click here

  • Kids Hope

    Spend an hour a week during the school year building a life-changing relationship with a child in a local school or be a prayer partner for a mentoring pair.   • Impact Holland

    Be the hands and feet of Christ in our local community by joining in a variety of hands-on repair projects, both short-term and ongoing, to help those in need. For more information, contact Rev. LuAnneemail  

  • serving our neighbors (SON)

    SON, our all-church serving event, looked different in 2020, but we have hope that in 2021 we will be able to once again serve our neighbors with home repair projects and Vacation Bible School as the body of Christ this summer. Save the dates of July 22-24!

  • lake louise work camps

    Help with upkeep at a beautiful United Methodist-related camp in northern Michigan, and experience nature's beauty and Christian fellowship while doing it! Work weeks in spring and fall; no experience necessary. For more information, contact Gene Wong.

  • Prayer Shawl Ministry

    This ministry provides persons in need of comfort with a warm, hand-crafted shawl created while praying for them, to literally cover themselves with prayer. New knitters, crocheters or quilters are always welcome to join. For more information, contact Jane Smith
